Liberty Memorial Bridge
Memorial Bridge Phase I and Phase II
home

Phase I
Phase I of the new Memorial Bridge is complete. Two full lanes of the new four-lane bridge opened to traffic on July 31 – one lane in either direction. Transferring traffic to the two complete lanes of the new bridge allows the contractor to dismantle the existing bridge.

Phase II
Phase II includes removal of the old bridge and completion of the new bridge. The west end of the existing bridge has been removed and the contractor is extending the last two lanes of the new bridge. Earlier this year, those final two lanes were built from the east approach across the river to pier 6, the transition pier on the west side. Now that the west end of the bridge has been removed, the remaining two lanes will be built from pier 6 to pier 1 and the east approach of the new bridge.
